WANT TO HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE LEARNING ABOUT WHALES AND DOLPHINS?

The Wild Dolphin Foundation has teamed up with experienced wildlife tour operator Wild Side Specialty Tours for Ocean Trekker Expeditions. Learn how to identify cetaceans and interpret their surfacing behaviours as we pass through some of Hawaii's richest waters of cetacean diversity and abundance.

Alongside professional guides and experienced marine biologist, trekkers experience Hawaii’s amazing ocean life from conservation minded and ecologically sensitive morning journeys. After casual yet informative briefings over dinner, trekkers will sharpen thier field techniques on-board assisting Wild Dolphin Foundation researchers in gathering data by recording behavior, environmental conditions and taking photo I.D.’s of the animals they come in contact with.

“During the Fall months the weather is calm, the ocean is clear, the animals are active and tourism is low. It’s a great time to be on the water” says, Teagan Logan of the Wild Dolphin Foundation.

A highlight of the expedition is the liveaboard aspect, with only five other passengers. Being afloat allows for brilliant stargazing in remote bays, and access to marine wildlife rich areas that even those who live in Hawaii don't hve access to. It’s also a great opportunity to “play tourist” and see Hawaii from a different perspective.

Other activities such as afternoon snorkel trips and visiting cultural sites are optional allowing plenty of time for relaxation and reflection. The first few evenings of the expedition trekkers will have informal yet engaging discussion and lectures regarding team building, safety, conservation, marine biology, and research methods.

2-day overnight expeditions are $695 person, 3 days @ 1195, and inquire about longer stays or our themed SeaEscape four day journeys.
